A few weeks ago, we talked about the Iranian restaurant Mazeh, located in the Commerce district. Today, we would like to introduce you to AlKaram, another restaurant offering Middle Eastern cuisine, located just a few steps away from the Hotel Moderniste, right in the heart of the 15ᵉ arrondissement of Paris!
Founded in 1998, AlKaram is known for offering the great classics of Lebanese gastronomy, such as hummus or sambousseks, but also traditional dishes less common in France. André Antoun, the chef, is responsible for the conception and realization of the menus. Originally from Lebanon, he developed his passion for cooking while watching his parents organize sumptuous meals for family celebrations. Upon settling in France, he began working in renowned Lebanese restaurants in Paris, and with the skills he had acquired, he decided to open his own restaurant, located in a discreet alleyway, close to the Convention metro station.
The menu offers a wide selection of dishes, from mezzes (assorted starters) to grilled meats, stews, salads and desserts. Mezzes are served in small portions, allowing diners to try different specialties such as tabbouleh, moussaka and falafel. Grilled meats are also very popular at AlKaram, with skewers of marinated chicken, lamb or kafta (spicy meatballs). Simmered dishes such as chawarma, shish taouk or kibbeh are prepared with traditional spices and are accompanied by rice or French fries.
The welcome at AlKaram is very warm, and you will immediately feel the passion of the chef and his team, who do everything possible to create a family atmosphere. The dishes are generous and rich in flavor, and the prices are very reasonable. If you are unfamiliar with some specialties on the menu, the waiters will be happy to explain them to you in detail.
The restaurant's decor is simple but elegant, with exposed stone walls, copper light fixtures and wooden tables. The small outdoor terrace is also very pleasant during the summer months to enjoy a small apéritif before your meal.
AlKaram is an authentic restaurant that offers a quality dining experience in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We highly recommend you to visit it if you are looking for a good place to enjoy quality Lebanese cuisine in Paris.
Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 2:30pm and from 7pm tp 11pm. A 10-minute walk from the Hotel Moderniste.
