In the Saint-Lambert-Vaugirard neighbourhood, a former grocery shop dating back to the late 19th century has been given a new lease of life. Wood, gilded brass, white marble: Cavapapa's decor celebrates old-world charm alongside contemporary energy. Restaurant, wine bar and venue for wine-tasting courses, the address has established itself since its opening in March 2025 as one of the neighbourhood's favourite haunts for lovers of a good bottle. What's more, it sits just a few minutes from Hôtel Moderniste.
Terroir cooking, between tradition and generosity
On the menu, Cavapapa offers reimagined bistro fare, blending reinvented classics with a few bolder touches. To start, the classic egg mayonnaise gets a twist as "Roulette de la Mort", alongside a chilled cucumber and mint soup or smoked herring rillettes, not forgetting the house sharing board, designed for an aperitif among friends.
Speaking of which, the sharing boards are a real house signature. On the charcuterie side, expect jésus de porc, coppa and chorizo from Domaine Abotia. On the cheese side, a discerning selection highlights Crottin de Chavignol, farmhouse and semi-dry, marinated in oil and herbs, Livarot AOP, and Brillat-Savarin, IGP-matured, all three award-winning (MOF). Seafood lovers aren't forgotten either, with salmon rillettes, homemade tarama and vintage sardines. And to finish, the little spreads, such as homemade hummus, perfect for easy grazing.
For mains, the Cavapapa-style guinea fowl paupiette from Normandy sits alongside baby octopus with squid-ink risotto and chorizo, or truffle and Comté gratin macaroni. Larger tables can also opt, subject to availability, for the Marguerite, a matured rib of beef to share.
For dessert, the house favours simplicity done well: apricot crumble with mint sorbet, chocolate fondant, Normandy fromage blanc with strawberry coulis, or a cheese board to round off the meal.

Each week, themed tasting classes bring together sommeliers, winemakers, spirits specialists, and brewers in turn, sharing their passion with newcomers and connoisseurs alike.
