In the heart of Paris’s 15th arrondissement, Hôtel Moderniste shares a selection of addresses to explore during your stay. Today, we introduce “Le Cassenoix”, a Parisian bistro serving unfussy seasonal cooking in a warm, generous atmosphere.
A neighbourhood bistro near the Eiffel Tower
Le Cassenoix is just a short distance from the Eiffel Tower. In the same arrondissement as Hôtel Moderniste, it’s an ideal spot for lunch between visits or dinner at a proper neighbourhood restaurant, far from the tourist traps.
The restaurant’s name has a lovely story: it pays tribute to the chef’s grandfather, who used to hunt down magnificent nutcrackers for his mother’s collection. You can admire them in the dining room.
Bistro cooking inspired by the seasons
At Le Cassenoix, the menu follows the rhythm of nature. It changes several times a year with the seasons and the chef’s inspiration, and a board of daily specials is offered, with possible supplements depending on the produce.
The chef trained at hotel school and sharpened his skills in some of Paris’s great houses: the Hôtel de Crillon alongside Christian Constant, the kitchens of the Élysée Palace during his military service, and La Régalade, where he spent six years. That experience shows in generous bistro cooking, true to seasonal produce and tradition.
A fixed-price menu
For a full meal at a gentle price, Le Cassenoix offers a €44 menu with a choice of dishes, including a starter, a main course and a dessert.
Looking to book for a group? For parties of 8 or more, a tasting menu (a starter, a fish course, a meat course and a dessert) is served to the whole table, from €50 excluding drinks. It can be arranged in advance on request.
A fine list of wines from our regions
On the wine side, the list was put together with the help of Éric Rossi to take you on a journey through France’s wine regions and grape varieties. Wines are also available by the glass and by the carafe, making it easy to pair each dish to your taste.
