Ojii, a trip to Japan in the heart of Paris

At the border between the 6th and 7th arrondissement of Paris lies Ojii, a new Japanese restaurant with chic and festive nuances that will surely surprise you.

In Paris, the quest for the best Japanese restaurants can be a challenge. Fans of Japanese cuisine often wonder where to find a place that combines a refined menu with a sophisticated ambiance. Fortunately, Olivier Leone and Arthur Cohen have transformed the historic bistro on Rue Perronet into a gem of its kind.

Here, influences from the characteristic interior designs of the 1960s and 1970s blend with delightful cuisine crafted by Chef Yuji "Taku" Mikuriya. With its prime location in the heart of the Bac-Saint-Germain district, near the iconic Café de Flore, Ojii is the latest venture from Arthur Cohen and Olivier Leone, who already run the Onii-San bistro in Le Marais.

From the outside, the discreet black façade adorned with a golden emblem hints at exclusive clubs, foretelling a decor with 1970s accents. Once inside, you'll discover meticulous attention to detail in the decor, featuring Japanese ikebana floral art. The furniture in rosewood, chinoiseries, textured and luminous mirrors, as well as intimate booths, create a unique, elegant, and intimate atmosphere.

As for the menu, it lives up to the enchanting ambiance. You can savor Akami and toro Ikejime carpaccio served with trout eggs and topinambour chips, followed by teriyaki lacquered eel with black garlic and umeboshi, shiso, ginger, signature vinegar rice, and egg yolk. Japanese influences and high-quality ingredients blend to create addictive dishes.

To accompany these delights, there's a cocktail menu that reimagines classics with a Japanese twist, including the Wasabi Margarita and the Umeshu-infused Martini, along with a selection of exceptional wines. Sommelier Anabelle Berthelemot will be delighted to guide you to the perfect wine pairing for your meal.

To conclude on a high note, don't miss the chocolate dessert, consisting of a biscuit, a soft cake, and a subtly spiced Japanese pepper mousse, all drizzled with caramel-miso sauce and topped with yuzu cream. Ojii is the perfect place for a late dinner, in the glow of chandeliers, in a suggestive atmosphere.

As you settle at your table, a tasteful playlist accompanies your meal, oscillating between Madonna's vintage tracks and the soundtrack of "In the Mood for Love."

So, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself to a gastronomic journey to Japan while staying right in the heart of the City of Light!
